Tessellation — The Sixth Sense, Bengaluru

Tessellation is a site-responsive volumetric installation on the 24-metre brutalist silo of the former Alembic Glass Factory in Bengaluru: millimetre-accurate projection and layered holographic fog turn the concrete cylinder into a transparent vessel with a synthetic ecology inside — walked through by an estimated 14,000 visitors across 22 nights.

Tessellation treats the last standing fragment of the Alembic Glass Factory — a circular concrete silo from around 1948, 24 metres across — as both material object and perceptual instrument. Each night of The Sixth Sense, India’s multidisciplinary immersive exhibition, the silo’s opacity is interrupted, reorganised and provisionally undone by light.

The piece operates across two registers. Architecturally, millimetre-accurate projection decomposes the façade into lattice, mass and aperture and re-reads it as a transparent vessel. Atmospherically, layered holographic fog and the heavy Bangalore night air extend the image off the surface and into the space around it, so the work is encountered as a volume the audience moves around and through — no headsets, no glasses, no LED.

Inside the rendered vessel a synthetic ecology unfolds in real time: crystalline forms, root systems, slow interior weather, generated live and registered to the silo’s geometry across a loop of roughly nineteen minutes, dusk to midnight. The work is metered for stillness — long durations, no drop, no crescendo for a phone. An estimated 14,000 visitors walked up to it across 22 nights, in February 2026. The reel of the installation has passed nine million views on Instagram.
