MUTATE / EVOLVE — Tokyo

MUTATE / EVOLVE won the Jury Prize at the 1minute Projection Mapping Competition in Tokyo: 3D renderings transformed by artificial intelligence into organic, lifelike mutations — from single cells to complex organisms.

A building façade in Tokyo covered in organic blue and purple projection-mapped forms resembling living cells Loads the player from Vimeo (do-not-track mode).

Our artwork for the 1minute Projection Mapping Competition in Tokyo, awarded the Jury Prize. RE:SORB used artificial intelligence to transform its 3D renderings into organic, lifelike mutations: starting with simple single-cell organisms, the mapping shows more and more complex life emerging on the façade.

The piece continues RE:SORB’s early adoption of machine learning in mapping, which began with ‘Synergy’ at the Bolshoi Theatre in 2018.
