Depth/100 — O.Z.O.R.A. Festival
Depth/100 is a spatial outdoor 3D screen installation by RE:SORB with air, water and light as its only building blocks — a pressurised water shield and layered mist curtains that create a perceived depth of 100 metres or more.
Depth/100 is a spatial outdoor 3D screen installation with air, water and light as its only building blocks. A pressurised ‘water shield’ forms the first projection layer, while two to three mist curtains stand several metres behind it. Each layer is almost invisible until it is hit by light.
By assigning foreground, mid-ground and background imagery to separate planes, the installation creates authentic spatial depth: viewers see objects advancing dozens of metres toward them while distant scenery remains far away. No glasses, no mirrors, no stage machinery — just pure atmosphere shaped by light. Typical set-ups range from 15 × 10 m to 60 × 18 m, with a perceived depth of 100 m or more.
Christie RGB laser projectors supply the brightness and colour needed for outdoor operation, and Christie Mystique auto-alignment keeps every pixel locked in place even when wind and humidity move the screens. Premiered at O.Z.O.R.A. 2024; RE:SORB returned to the festival in 2025.
